2007-summary

Compromises in 2007

Total compromises in 2007 were over 132 million, more than twice that of 2006. For large breaches affecting over 10,000 per incident financial breaches (those exposing charge card or bank account information) were fewer in number than non-financial (those exposing social security numbers, names, email addresses, telephone numbers, medical information or other personal data) breaches. Yet, those financial breaches exposed more than seven times as many accounts.

2007 saw 100 million charge cards exposed at TJX Companies.
